NETASQ versie 9: Nieuwe firmware voor extra beveiliging
Een nieuwe next generation firewall of UTM kan wonderen verrichten voor de beveiliging van je bedrijfsnetwerk. De apparaten moeten dan natuurlijk wel zijn uitgerust met de nieuwste firmware om effectief hun werk te kunnen doen. Voor de UTMs van NETASQ is binnenkort versie 9 beschikbaar, die verschillende verbeteringen biedt. Deze zijn, toevallig of niet, in te delen in negen verschillende deelgebieden. Een van de meest opvallende is een verbeterde snelheid van de veiligheidscontrole van het netwerkverkeer, terwijl de controle zelf grondiger dan ooit wordt uitgevoerd. Volgens NETASQ is de doorvoersnelheid van UTMs uit de NG-serie hiermee verhoogd met 50 procent. Daarnaast zorgt versie 9 er met het zogenoemde NETASQ High Availability voor dat de beveiliging bij een switch-over naar een andere UTM (in het uitzonderlijke geval dat een apparaat hardwarematig uitvalt) slechts voor een minimale tijd wegvalt. Hierdoor kun je ongestoord blijven kijken
naar streaming video en kunnen voip-gesprekken gewoon doorgaan.De meest in het oog springende verbetering is ongetwijfeld de vernieuwde gebruikersinterface waarmee je UTMs gemakkelijker en intuïtiever kunt configureren. NETASQ heeft er deze keer bovendien voor gekozen om de interface web-based te maken, waarmee je deze vanaf elke computer met internetverbinding kunt gebruiken.Het instellen van een UTM wordt niet alleen gemakkelijker dankzij de nieuwe gebruikersinterface, maar ook doordat versie 9 meehelpt bij het instellen van de beveiliging. Veel inbreuken op de beveiliging zijn namelijk te herleiden naar configuratiefouten in het beveiligingssysteem. NETASQ versie 9 waarschuwt daarom de beheerder wanneer hij of zij de UTM verkeerd dreigt in te stellen of staat bepaalde configuraties in het geheel niet toe. Met de nieuwe firmware kunnen de UTMs van NETASQ dieper in netwerkverkeer kijken dat met ssl-encryptie beveiligd is. Vervolgens kan bekeken worden of het
daadwerkelijk om bedrijfsinformatie gaat, of dat er wellicht een hacker actief is binnen de beveiligde verbinding.Daarnaast komt versie 9 met een verbeterde inspectie van applicaties en websites, iets wat zeker welkom is gezien de stijgende populariteit van web-apps en social media. Met de nieuwe firmware kun je niet alleen gebruikersgroepen specificeren, maar ook specifieke toepassingen, links en apis blokkeren.Versie 9 komt verder met een uitgebreide database van vulnerabilities, zwakke plekken in programmas en toepassingen die door hackers worden uitgebuit. UTMs van NETASQ met de nieuwe firmware detecteren wanneer een van je medewerkers bijvoorbeeld een verouderde en daarmee kwetsbare browser gebruikt en stuurt hiervan een bericht naar de beheerder. Deze kan vervolgens het systeem up-to-date maken. De nieuwe firmware bevat verschillende configuraties waarmee je de beveiliging stapsgewijs kunt implementeren binnen je bedrijf. Zo kun je er eerst voor kiezen om de
firewall zelf actief te maken, en in een later stadium andere UTM-functionaliteiten toevoegen. Hiermee kan de IT-afdeling zich stapsgewijs voorbereiden op de komst van nieuwe beveiliging.Tenslotte zal na installatie van NETASQ versie 9 het niet meer nodig zijn om bij toekomstige updates van de firmware te herstarten. Ook al is het maar voor een paar minuten, het is wel zo prettig dat hiermee je firewall en dus je complete netwerkbeveiliging niet meer offline hoeft.Versie 9 van NETASQ is begin juni beschikbaar als gratis download voor bezitters van een UTM uit de U-serie en de NG-serie met geldig maintenance contract. De firmware werkt niet op de F-serie, maar gebruikers van een UTM uit deze reeks krijgen een fikse korting wanneer ze hun apparaat omruilen voor ŽŽn uit de U-serie. <br>

Veel inbreuken op de beveiliging zijn namelijk te herleiden naar configuratiefouten in het beveiligingssysteem. NETASQ versie 9 waarschuwt daarom de beheerder wanneer hij of zij de UTM verkeerd dreigt in te stellen of staat bepaalde configuraties in het geheel niet toe. Met de nieuwe firmware kunnen de UTMs van NETASQ dieper in netwerkverkeer kijken dat met ssl-encryptie beveiligd is. Vervolgens kan bekeken worden of het
daadwerkelijk om bedrijfsinformatie gaat, of dat er wellicht een hacker actief is binnen de beveiligde verbinding.Daarnaast komt versie 9 met een verbeterde inspectie van applicaties en websites, iets wat zeker welkom is gezien de stijgende populariteit van web-apps en social media. Met de nieuwe firmware kun je niet alleen gebruikersgroepen specificeren, maar ook specifieke toepassingen, links en apis blokkeren.Versie 9 komt verder met een uitgebreide database van vulnerabilities, zwakke plekken in programmas en toepassingen die door hackers worden uitgebuit. UTMs van NETASQ met de nieuwe firmware detecteren wanneer een van je medewerkers bijvoorbeeld een verouderde en daarmee kwetsbare browser gebruikt en stuurt hiervan een bericht naar de beheerder. Deze kan vervolgens het systeem up-to-date maken. De nieuwe firmware bevat verschillende configuraties waarmee je de beveiliging stapsgewijs kunt implementeren binnen je bedrijf. Zo kun je er eerst voor kiezen om de
firewall zelf actief te maken, en in een later stadium andere UTM-functionaliteiten toevoegen. Hiermee kan de IT-afdeling zich stapsgewijs voorbereiden op de komst van nieuwe beveiliging.Tenslotte zal na installatie van NETASQ versie 9 het niet meer nodig zijn om bij toekomstige updates van de firmware te herstarten. Ook al is het maar voor een paar minuten, het is wel zo prettig dat hiermee je firewall en dus je complete netwerkbeveiliging niet meer offline hoeft.Versie 9 van NETASQ is begin juni beschikbaar als gratis download voor bezitters van een UTM uit de U-serie en de NG-serie met geldig maintenance contract. De firmware werkt niet op de F-serie, maar gebruikers van een UTM uit deze reeks krijgen een fikse korting wanneer ze hun apparaat omruilen voor ŽŽn uit de U-serie. <br>

UTM firewall V9 Netasq vereenvoudigt security
Netasq, Europees leverancier van netwerk en mail security-oplossingen, lanceert binnenkort V9, de nieuwste versie van de UTM firewall-serie. Deze versie biedt onder andere aanzienlijke prestatieverbeteringen, een geoptimaliseerde servicecontinuïteit en reactietijd en toezicht op ssl-verkeer. V9 beschikt ook over een vernieuwde intuïtieve gebruikersinterface. De architectuur van Netasq combineert de prestaties van hardware-acceleratie met de flexibiliteit van software. Met behulp van slechts de helft van de middelen die een klassieke architectuur nodig heeft bij eenzelfde inspectieniveau, fungeert V9 als een ware software ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit).
