The pbxnsip hospitality edition uses the ULLC interface. http://wiki.pbxnsip.com/index.php/UHLL_Interface Easy Trunk Know How Questions you are too afraid to ask! Learn some Easy Know How What is a SIP Trunk? A SIP trunk is a method of using Voice Over IP (VoIP) to send or receive calls from your PBX. A SIP trunk is created between the IP PBX and a
provider of some sort. An ITSP (Internet Telephone service Provider) will supply a service which terminates lines on their soft switch. The switch must be SIP compliant and be designed to terminate calls using the SIP Protocol. SIP Trunks are normally cheaper than the ISDN lines and this is the reason why companies are starting to look at SIP trunks. What is failover in a trunk? pbxnsip trunks have the ability to failover upon a connection error with the gateway or ITSP. Should the call fail for some reason, the trunk if configured, will send the routing of the call back to the dial plan to see if can resolve another route. The dial plan is laid out in a top down fashion and therefore the secondary back-up trunks must be present in the trunk lower down in the dial plan. What is the Outbound Proxy on a trunk? The outbound proxy is the field which identifies the SIP server or Gateway, this can be a full DNS domain or an IP address. e.g.
sip:your-sip-domain.com What is the Privacy Settings on a trunk? The trunk may or may not register. Besides this, the ITSP or gateway which receives the information may need the Caller-ID of the calling party to be passed to it. This is does via the privacy indication setting. Try each setting until you find the right one. Click here to view the wiki for information on pbxnsip What are CO2 lines? Central Office (CO Lines) is a way the IP PBX can replicate a set number of lines entering the PBX. If you set the trunk to have 6 CO lines (like so ...'co1 co2 co3 co4 co5 co6') the PBX will create 6 virtual extension called co1, co2, co3, co4, co5 and co6. Like any other extension on the PBX, these lines can be monitored via a BLF. You can also a CO line as way to pass calls round the office... 'call for Terry on Line 1' What is the Direction field for? The direction field on a trunk is a great new feature and it
allows you to control the calling direction of the trunk. This makes a trunk very configurable, especially if you want to control access to and from you system and restrict who can call from or call to.
