Learn some Easy Know How What is a Media Gateway?A media gateway is a device that sits between the PBX and the PSTN network. pbxnsip communicates with the media gateway using a SIP Trunk. Such devices include Vegastream, Sangoma, Audio Codes and Quintum. What is NAT?Network Address translation (NAT) is the translation of an Internet Protocol address (IP address) between networks. One network is
designated the inside network and the other is the outside. Typically, a company maps its local inside network address to a global outside (public) IP addresses. NAT unmaps the global IP addresses on incoming packets back into local IP addresses. This helps ensure security. It can also cause severe headaches without a NAT filter or session border controller. What is the PSTN?The PSTN is the Public Switch Telephone Network, a term for the telephone network as we have used for many years. What is TLS?Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a protocol that is used for establishing a secure connection between a client and a server. In this case the client is your phone and the server is the PBX. What is a CDR?Call Detail Record - this is an individual record of each call made on the PBX by an extension or accounts which is set for making calls e.g. an auto attendant. The call detail record is a computer record containing the details of a unique call. What is a Conference Account?A conference
room is an account on the PBX which allows you to hold conference calls. A conference call is where multiple calls are mixed into in to one stream and accessed via the participants in the conference. You can view and listen to voicemail, user call recordings, view CDRs and change settings on your extension.User Call Recording - Know How - V3 keys are now set to allow User Call Recording. User call recording is started by pressing the Record button on a Snom phone or by dialling a * feature code to switch on or off the call recording. User call recorded messages are accessible via the mailbox functionality or by accessing the web interface at user level User Scheduled Conferences - Know How -If the domain administrator has created a scheduled conference room, users may create a scheduled conference from the user web interface. revolutionary data collection server, in a bid to reduce school food waste and costspbxnsip and Cypad, a food data collection agency in the education field, have successfully implemented a revolutionary system for data collection, in utilising pbxnsip software with Microsoft Office Communications Server and Microsoft SQL server. The project is the latest in data management advancements, which has opened many new avenues in cost and time saving activities for schools and local authorities. This Cypad platform is scalable, robust and future proof and furthermore can service and support 1000s of schools in handling their food management activity through a special IVR system. The Cypad Data Collection Server has made the days of manual pen and paper data logging a distant memory. Traditionally schools would document and post the information back to the data collection agency or call a number of single analogue lines attended by an operator, who would manually document the information
and enter it into a basic data analysis programme. This meant delays, data errors and the frustration of engaged phone lines. Now users have available a bespoke IVR system which enables fast and accurate collect data from the actual user. Full use is made of the ability to interact with the user during the call. The caller is identified as they make the call and the questions altered to take account of the data that needs collecting, based on the requirements for that particular site. As this also ensures that only necessary questions are asked the call length is minimised. Cypad Data Collection Server has proved very popular since its release and we have had to increase the number of lines used several times. Using pbxnsip IP PBX as the core product has made it easy to achieve this. We now offer our clients an electronic management platform which ensures accuracy and a tracking dashboard that hasnt been possible before said Jonn Fredericks, Director at Cypad. The introduction of
these new developments will further enhance our position as the market leader for food data collection in the educational field. We have had a lot of very positive feedback from both the actual users of the system and as importantly the school caterers who ultimately make use of the data added Jonn.
